Paternum: A Superhero Novel

I write a superhero webserial called Paternum, which will be found hereAt it's heart, it's an extended coming-of-age story for the main character, Quinn Kaufman, as they become a superhero, in a world with more reasonable stakes and less powerful heroes than many superheroic worlds. The plot will not and will never involve villains threatening to destroy the universe, the galaxy, or even anything so mundane as simply the world, as I've always felt that such incredible stakes make it more difficult to tell a relatable, grounded story (and yes, I am aware of the irony of attempting to tell such a story with a super-powered main character).

I consider Paternum's primary influences to be the various versions of Spider-Man, J. C. McCrae's own superhero story Worm, and Drew Hayes' story SuperPowereds. I hope that the fans of such stories can find something to enjoy in mine as well.

Paternum is and will remain free, but if you’d like, you can support me through PatreonKo-Fi, or directly through Paypal. Either way, you’ll get access to up-to-date download links for the story in epub, mobi, and pdf formats, to take Paternumwith you on the go! Higher levels of support on Patreon will get access to previews of the story and included art, as well.

Professional Game Master

I have 8 years of experience running games, including 5 completed campaigns and countless individual sessions.
My philosophy on tabletop games is that it's a way for friends to tell a story together. I believe that the the place of a dungeon master is to help trail-blaze through the jungle of infinite possibilities that a game can be - to provide options for the players to chose from, and to adapt to whatever they choose.
I operate in the Pittsburgh area for in-person games, but can run online anywhere.

I charge $50 for a session of up to three hours, and an extra $20 for each hour past three. The first session of a campaign is 50% off as a demo - all other sessions are full price. Payment for each session should be provided using Venmo no less than three days in advance - if a session must be cancelled after this time, you will recieve a 50% refund.
This price covers games using the following systems: Dungeons and Dragons 3.5e, 5e, Mutants and Masterminds, STaRS. Other systems are available but may cost extra.
Players do not need to bring anything to a session, but if hired for an in-person game they must provide a location to play as well as pay an additional $5 per session to pay for transportation.

Experienced Writer

I host many pieces of writing that I’ve done over the last 7+ years here. For example, here you can find links to Writing Prompts that I’ve answered on Reddit; links to Short Stories and Flash Fictions that I’ve written for various reasons; the download link for the script of the Narrator’s Folly, a humorous and very meta audio story which I wrote but which never got recorded; the download link for the script of Gotham Radio, a Batman fanfiction framed as an episode of a radio show in Gotham. This I did get recorded, back in college, and you can listen to it here. For a preview, try listening to Harvey Dent’s campaign ad; and the download link for an utterly abysmal superhero novella called Time Until Death. It’s not good, but it’s the first story I ever finished, way back in 2012, so I still have a certain fondness for it.
